Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen will be leaving office when his term ends in January, but he's not ruling out running for office in the future.

Kaysen says he hasn't made any firm plans about holding office in the future, but  adds "I'm not the type of person to just sit around."

The mayor earlier this year said he thought long and hard about running for a third term before finally deciding against it.

But he said Tuesday that he has been approached about possibly running for the Wyoming Legislature. Kaysen was non-committal about the possibility, only saying that any decision on that would be a couple of years away.

Kaysen says the only thing he has firmly decided at this point is that the day he leaves office "me and my wife are going out for pancakes."

In the meantime he says he is focused on his last four months as mayor, adding ''I'm sure it will go quickly."

Before serving two terms as mayor Kaysen was the President and CEO of Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power (now known as Black Hills Energy).
