Cheyenne Officer To Represent Wyoming At Special Olympics World Games

Officer Zachary Johnson of the Cheyenne Police Department was selected to represent Special Olympics Wyoming and the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) at the Special Olympic World Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea in January of 2013.

Johnson was selected to the Global Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg Team after being nominated by Special Olympics Wyoming staff and LETR co-directors.

Johnson is a patrol officer and EOD Technician with the Cheyenne Police Department. As a five year member of the LETR, Johnson participates in the Laramie County/Cheyenne leg of the torch run. He has also been involved with the Cheyenne Jackalope Jump and presents awards to Special Olympics Wyoming athletes at area games.

Special Olympics Wyoming CEO Priscilla Dowse says the final leg of any world event is “a great opportunity to highlight the work of Law Enforcement and their involvement in their community.”

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Wyoming began in 1987 and since its inception has raised more than a half a million dollars to support Wyoming athletes.
