Cheyenne Police were called to a disturbance early Friday morning, according to officer Dan Long,

He says a man called police to 604 Shoshoni, but when officers arrived he refused to let them in. Long says the man became upset, threatening to burn the building down and hitting the walls with a hatchet. Police say the man lit a toilet paper roll on fire, then broke off a sprinkler head, flooding the apartment as well as the adjoining hallway.

He reportedly barricaded his apartment door with a refrigerator and some other items. Long says officers got into the apartment through a back window and dragged the man out through the window.

He was then taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and placed under emergency detention, pending possible charges from the District Attorney's office.

Police have not released the man's identity.
