Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak wants city residents to know local police cars are equipped with cameras and GPS systems.

The chief says that while the cameras aren't on all of the time they are activated when a police car turns on it's flashing lights, is in a wreck or reaches a certain speed. Kozak says officers can also manually activate the cameras if they choose to do so.

The recordings are then uploaded and can be reviewed later, according to police spokesman Dan Long. Chief Kozak says Cheyenne police ars are also equipped with a global positioning system that tracks where the cars are located and how fast they are traveling.
