Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Dan Long says he thinks all of the publicity about the dangers of drunk driving in recent years seem to be having an impact.

Police only arrested two motorists for drunk driving during a special enforcement effort on Super Bowl Sunday. Long says he considers the low arrest total good news, because it's an indicator that people are starting to understand the risks of driving under the influence.

The police department and other local law enforcement agencies, including the Laramie County Sheriff's Department and Wyoming Highway Patrol, activate the Laramie County DUI task force several times a year.

The efforts target holidays which typically see an increase in drunk driving, such as New Year's Eve and St. Patrick's Day.
