The Cheyenne Police Department has revoked an accident alert that was placed Monday morning during a winter storm which rocked the area.

The lifting of the alert means car accidents in the city should be reported as usual. Officer Dan Long says people who need to report accidents that happened during the alert can get the delayed report forms at the police department in downtown Cheyenne.

When the accident alert is activated people are asked not to immediately report car accidents except those involving serious bodily injury, a drunk driver or an accident that blocks traffic.

The alert is used to free up police officers during especially busy times, which in Cheyenne typically happens during a severe winter storm
