Cheyenne Police are looking for a suspect in the shooting of another man during a foiled auto burglary early Sunday morning.

According to a release from the department, a 29 year old man had gone outside to smoke in the 4000 block of Garden Court around 5:20 Sunday morning. The man reportedly heard someone tampering with his work truck, and when he checked on the noise he found a man stealing copper wire. Police say the suspect pulled a handgun and fired one shot, wounding the vehicle owner in the upper body.

The victim was rushed to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where his wounds weren't believed to be life threatening. Police say that because of his injuries, the victim was able to provide only a very sketchy description of the shooter as possibly a white or Hispanic male.

Anyone with information on the case is being asked to call the Police Department at 637-6510 or the Silent Witness line at 638-TIPS. Callers to the Silent Witness Line can remain anonymous.
