Christmas in July was a good one for Cheyenne businesses.

This year's "Daddy of 'em All" drew just over 266,000 paid attendees, the second largest crowd in Cheyenne Frontier Days history behind the 100th celebration in 1996.

Mayor Rick Kaysen says he's still waiting for final numbers, but the lodging and restaurant owners he's spoken with had a busy summer.

"When you traverse our city and you take a look at the various eating establishments, you take a look at parking lots for lodging, I would anticipate a strong year," said Kaysen.

A strong economy and lower gas prices were driving factors in the increased summer tourism numbers.
