The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities watering rules take effect May 1, according to spokeswoman Dena Egenhoff.

She says the standard Cheyenne watering regulations include the following:

  • From May 1 to Sept. 1 watering between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. is prohibited
  • Customers can water lawns and grass up to three days per week.
  • Wasting water, such as allowing water to run down the street is prohibited.
  • Gardens and flowers can be watered any day before 10 a.m. or after 5 p.m.
  • Customers wanting to water daily to establish new sod or seed must obtain a watering permit and amend soils. For more information click here.

Because of the wet weather the last few weeks, Egenhoff says local reservoirs are in good shape and officials don't expect to have to impose special drought watering restrictions.
