In a town built by an 1863 Congressionally mandated railway, Cheyenne has a lot of fans of railroads, Union Pacific Railroads.

The UP services some trains in their steam shop and there are always crowds wanting to see the inner workings when they open their doors just once a year, during the annual Cheyenne Depot Days in May.

But this year, we get extra days to take in the Steam Shop courtesy of The Cheyenne Depot Museum

“Take advantage of this rare opportunity, available only in Cheyenne! Now is your chance to visit the Union Pacific Steam Shop where Big Boy #4014 is undergoing restoration to operating condition, with the goal of running the rails once again!”
