Have you noticed all the bird nests in Cheyenne's bare trees?

One of the benefits of having four seasons is watching all the changes the trees go through, in the winter you can easily see the bird nests usually hidden by the leaves.

I've been noticing lots of bird nests in the bare trees as I drive around Cheyenne. They really stand out amongst all the naked branches as a dark concentrated clump. Now that I know to look for them, I've even seen some trees with more than one nest.

If you happen to be enjoying your lunch at one of Cheyenne's parks, they are great places to find some bird nests in the trees. As you sit and eat your food, sometimes you can watch as a mother bird flies to and from one of these nests to bring food to her chicks.

For those who are serious about their bird watching, you might consider attending a meeting of the Cheyenne High Plains Chapter of the National Audubon Society. They meet on the third Tuesday of each month at the Laramie County Library.

Another thing to watch for as you spot bird nests is how different they can be. Some are extremely large while others are quite small, others look real narrow and some can be surprisingly wide. It depends on the branches and shapes of the trees and the type of birds.
