Pearl Jam has one of the most die-hard fan bases in rock. Here in Cheyenne, you'll be hard pressed to find a more dedicated PJ fan than Chip Morton. If that name sounds familiar, Chip and his brother Mark own and operate the popular downtown restaurant Mort's Bagels. And when they're not at the shop, they might be traveling across the country to see their favorite band.

The Morton's allegiance to Pearl Jam dates back to the early 90's, when Chip started his first bagel shop in Fort Collins. At the time, his employees were all college students who turned him on to the band. He's been a fan ever since.

Over the years, Chip and Mark have seen dozens of Pearl Jam shows. Last year, they made the pilgrimage to Buffalo, New York, to see the band. But they didn't stop there. They followed the group to Oklahoma City, Austin and all the way back to Denver.

As for his favorite Pearl Jam show, Chip has narrowed it down to two. His first time seeing them at Red Rocks in the 90's was a moment he'll never forget. He also count last fall's Denver show, when the band played for over three hours, among his favorites.

Both Chip and Mark collect concert recordings from other Pearl Jam fanatics across the country. At the moment, Chip is listening to last year's concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which he claims is one of their best.

The next time you're at Mort's Bagel's, if you see a couple guys working behind the counter, say hello to the biggest Pearl Jam fans in Cheyenne.
