Did you know that Cheyenne is less than two hours away from one of the world's largest animal sanctuaries?

The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado, is home to hundreds of exotic creatures, including lions, tigers, leopards, bears and wolves.

Originally founded in 1980, the non-profit organization takes in large carnivores from all over the country. Over the years, they've outgrown two facilities in Boulders and Lyons and are now located on over 720 acres near the small northeastern Colorado town of Keenesburg.

The sanctuary is open every daily from 9 a.m to sunset. While they encourage active supporters to make an annual donation for the care of the animals, visitors are welcome. They also provide special guided tours for large groups.
