The fast food entrepreneur who brought us the best chicken sandwiches in just about every mall across America, leaves a legacy behind.  Cathy figured out how to turn a single restaurant into a multi-billion dollar empire has passed away at 93, at his home earlier Monday, September 8, 2014.

Cathy had lived through the Great Depression and perfected a chicken sandwich in the early 1960's. The recipe was simple: a buttered bun, dill pickle chips and boneless chicken. This is what created, what he called, the "Chick-fil-A."

Cathy was a man of faith and was never ashamed of it, even after receiving serious scrutiny from those who did not believe as he did.

The company brings in about 5 billion dollars a year in sales and provides great customer service, rarely seen in any other fast food chain.

Cathy may be gone from us, but his chicken legacy lives on in more than 1800 restaurants across the country, to include the District of Columbia. The chain will remain in private hands and will still be closed on Sundays.
