Children’s Museum Of Cheyenne President Optimistic

The President of the Board of Directors of the proposed Children's Museum of Cheyenne says that she is optimistic the museum will be built.

Amy Surdam says that although the group recently withdrew it's request to lease about 22 feet of city property for the facility ''we're approaching it from a different angle". She says a recent meeting with Mayor Rick Kaysen and City Attorney Dan White was very positive. The museum group already owns about 3/4 of the downtown property commonly called 'the hole", with the city owning about 1/4.

The museum would like to be able to use the city owned portion, and Surdam says she has been working with some local attorneys to find a way to allow the group to use the city owned portion. She says a development agreement with the city may end up being the solution.

Surdam says she is anxious to work out an agreement with the city so that her group can present a plan for the museum to potential contributors to the museum fundraising effort.
