Bruce Springsteen‘s new album ‘High Hopes‘ has received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. However, fans all over the world have raved about his appearance last week on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,’ where he sang a parody of ‘Born to Run’ about New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s traffic scandal.

Well, one fan hasn’t been raving: In a recent New York Times article about Christie’s political future, we learn that the governor, who has attended more than 130 Springsteen concerts, didn’t see it. A parenthetical statement in the middle of the piece says that “the governor could not bring himself to watch the traffic jam-themed parody of ‘Born to Run’ sung by his idol, Bruce Springsteen, on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,’ though he was told by his college-age son, Andrew, that it was funny.”

Perhaps Christie would have been watching had he not been tipped off about it from Fallon himself. Speaking to the Television Critics Association yesterday, the host said that he called Christie, who has appeared on Fallon’s show, to warn him what was coming. “First of all, the bit was funny,” Fallon said, as reported in the Wrap. “Secondly, I let Chris Christie know that we were gonna do it. And I said the silver lining: Bruce Springsteen says your name.”

Last Tuesday’s episode of ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ was devoted exclusively to Springsteen. In addition to the parody, he sat down for an interview with Fallon and performed two songs from ‘High Hopes,’ ‘Heaven’s Wall’ and the title track.
