Chubby Checker DEMANDS To Be In Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Is He “Twisted?”

There’s no doubt that Chubby Checker is a legend in Rock and Roll, being one of the pioneers who had us twisting to “The Twist,” and had us twisting again with “Let’s Twist Again.” But should he be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because he DEMANDS it?

Chubby Checker attended the Songwriters Hall of Fame event last week, and that’s when he told a reporter “I don’t want to get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when I’m 85 years old.  I’ll tell them to drop dead, so you better do it quick while I’m still smiling.”

What’s the reason behind this demand?  He says he wants to be inducted while he can still make a living, and he’s still going strong at age 72.  Chubby went on to say “If you put me in when I’m too old to make a living, then it’s no good for me to be in there.”

So what say you?  Should they take Chubby’s livelihood into consideration and induct him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or should he wait like other artists, and hope for the best?
