Cheyenne Frontier Days attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, many entering the state from Colorado where marijuana is legal.

But despite what you may think, Cheyenne Police say pot really isn't a big problem at CFD.

Officer Dan Long says while Cheyenne does see a spike in crime in July, marijuana arrests are proportional to that increase.

"Just comparing that the last couple years, it didn't seem like there was much of an increase," said Long.

Long says underage drinking, however, continues to be a problem.

"We have (grant) money to put officers out there for specifically underage drinking," said Long. "But we have officers actually out there on patrol as well looking for anything that's illegal."

Police issued 105 citations for underage drinking during CFD last year, compared to just six for marijuana possession.
