The Wyoming Cowboys, missing Larry Nance Jr. and Alan Herndon due to illness, fell to Air Force 73-50 in Colorado Springs on Saturday.

It was the most lopsided loss for the Cowboys this season, and at least temporarily drops the pokes out of a first place tie with San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs take an 8-2 MWC record into a conference game vs Boise State today (Sunday Feb.8).

A San Diego State win would give the Aztecs a full game lead over Wyoming (19-5, 8-3 MWC) in the conference standings, while a Boise State win would leave the two teams tied with an 8-3 conference record.

That would set up a battle for sole possession of first place on Wednesday night when Wyoming plays at SDSU.
