Having won its last six matches and nine of the last ten, the University of Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team made its debut in the American Volleyball Coaches Association top-25 poll at No. 25 this week. The ranking marks the first time since Oct. 11, 1994, the Cowgirls have been ranked.

Most recently Wyoming opened Mountain West play last weekend with a sweep of Boise State and a four-set victory against Utah State. The Cowgirls (12-2, 2-0 MW) were one of three teams to have a perfect MW opening weekend. It’s the first time since 2004 that UW has started 2-0 in MW play.

Wyoming was ranked four times during the 1994 season, which also was the last time Wyoming beat two ranked teams in one season. The Cowgirls beat No. 10 Arizona State 3-2, and No. 23 Georgia 3-2. UW went four straight weeks in the top-25, with the highest ranking that season being No. 23 the week of Sept. 27th.

The Cowgirls will continue MW play this weekend as they travel to face San Diego State (4-10, 1-1) on Thursday at 7 p.m. MT and Nevada (6-8, 1-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m. Wyoming will look to start 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 1998.
