Because of discussion about the possibility of hiring security guards for the Jack R. Spiker parking garage, Cheyenne Police have compiled a report on crimes at the garage.

The following information includes statistics on part one crimes, calls for service, and officer initiated activity which occurred at the parking structure between Jan. 1, 2014 and May 27, 2015.

Part one crimes are comprised of homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, simple assault, stolen vehicles, and larceny.

Part One Crimes: 15 Aggravated Assault - 2 (In both cases the victim knew the suspect) Simple Assault - 3 (Occurred after midnight, alcohol involved) Larceny - 9 (All from vehicles) Stolen Vehicle - 1 (Vehicle was recovered)

Calls for service (generated by citizens): 171 Time Frames 84 calls (49%) - 7 a.m.- 6 p.m. 58 calls (34%) - 6 p.m. - 12 a.m. 29 calls (17%) - 12 a.m. - 7 a.m. Officer Initiated: 393 Building Checks - 61 Field Interviews - 300 Traffic Stops - 32

Spokesman Officer Dan Long says 15 of the calls for service revealed Part One Crimes. He also says Officer Initiated calls for service could include such things as possible public intoxication and similar events.

Long says overall the crime rate at the garage isn't especially high when compared to similar areas of the city and the time frame covered by the report. He also says police make an effort to regularly check the garage,
