Critter Camp Scholarships Available for Kids – But Hurry! [AUDIO]
The Cheyenne Animal Shelter recently received a grant from the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club Foundation for the purposes of providing scholarships to our annual Critter Camp. The grant monies are available for children who come from families needing financial assistance and wish to attend one of our Critter Camp sessions. The camp will be held the weeks of: July 9, July 16 and August 6.
Critter Camp is the Cheyenne Animal Shelter’s annual day camp for children who have completed Kindergarten through fifth grade. During the week-long camp, the children learn about and interact with a myriad of different animals, from alpacas to burros to birds. They also keep journals and create arts and crafts about what they’ve learned. They leave camp with a better understanding of how to behave around animals and how to care for them, as well as learning the important work of animal shelters.
Rick Collard stopped by our studios this morning, here is the audio:
“Since the lessons learned at Critter Camp are important to the future of humans and animals in our community, and the fact that the camp provides a valuable humane educational experience, we do not want inability to pay to prevent a child from attending this learning experience,” said Rick Collord, executive director.
