Cheyenne Regional Medical Center recently marked the one-year anniversary of it's electronic medical record (EMR) system.

CRMC vice president and chief medical informatics officer Dr. Ashutosh Goel says the new system has offered a wide range of benefits to health care at CRMC.. He says one major improvement is making medical information more accessible, including that held by other medical institutions, including such hospitals as the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins.

He adds the the system also improves patient access to their medical records. That gives the patient better ability to be an informed partner in their own medical decisions, and "an informed patient is a better patient" according to Dr. Goel.
