Cheyenne Regional Medical Center has been recognized as a 2013 "Top Performer on Key Quality Measures" by an accreditation group known as the Joint Commission.

The commission is regulatory agency that evaluates hospitals across the country that serve medicaid and medicare patients, according to CRMC CEO Margo Karsten. The ''Top Performer" hospitals had to achieve performance of 95 percent or above on several criteria.

CRMC was specifically recognized for treatment of heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia and for surgical care.

Only 1224 hospitals across the country received the designation, and it was the first time for Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, according to Karsten.
