If you've ever seen "The Decline of Western Civilization, Pt. 2: The Metal Years", you can probably still picture former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes chugging a liter of vodka in a swimming pool while his mother looks on in disappointment. The series produced three chilling films documenting the emerging punk rock and hair metal scenes in the 80's and 90's.

After maintaining a cult following for decades, the trilogy will be finally be released on DVD and Blu-ray on June 30th. The collector's edition box set will include all three volumes of the movie, including a 40 page book, extended interviews and new commentary from Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl.

The original chapter was released in 1980 and chronicled Southern California hardcore punk pioneers including The Circle Jerks, Black Flag and the Germs.  A sequel followed in 1988 when glam metal ruled Hollywood's Sunset Strip, featuring interviews with KISS, Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne.  The final film of the trilogy arrived a decade later, profiling L.A.'s gutter punk scene in the late 90's.

All three "Decline of Western Civilization" documentaries were written and directed by legendary filmmaker Penelope Spheeris, who later directed several blockbuster comedies, including "Wayne's World", "Black Sheep" along with big screen remakes of "The Little Rascals" and "The Beverly Hillbillies".
