Are you a fan of bluegrass music?

If so, you'll want to be in Denver this weekend for the Mid-Winter Bluegrass Festival at the Ramada Plaza, I-25 and 120th, running Friday, February 21, through Sunday, February 23.The 29th Annual Denver Mid-Winter Bluegrass Festival features more than a dozen bands, a vendor's fair, workshops and beginner's jams.

Concerts at the Ramada Plaza are scheduled for Friday, February 21, from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. and Sunday, February 23, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bands featured at the Bluegrass Festival include:

  • Junior Sisk & Rambler's Choice
  • Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen
  • Jeff Scroggins and Colorado
  • Trout Steak Revival
  • Fireweed
  • The Full Quiver
  • Honey jDon't
  • Steel Pennies
  • Camptown

and several showcase bands:

  • Crystal Hill Billys
  • Mile High Express
  • Cottonwood Acoustic Bluegrass Band

All concerts will be held on the Ballroom Stage and in the Acoustic Stage Room. Tickets start at $35.

The weekend's events also include the Saturday Showcase of Bands where new talent can show off their skills beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the Great Rocky Mountain Band Scramble starting at 4:15 p.m. where groups of musicians are chosen at random and have three hours to put together a bluegrass band to compete for prizes.
