A large part of Wyoming is made up of a of railroad fans. The annual celebration of the iron horse that opened the west and made America great is what Cheyenne Depot Days is all about. This is the one guaranteed time of year that the public can see inside the Steam Shop where mighty engines, including one of the world's largest steam locomotives, Big Boy 4014, are being restored.

If not for the Union Pacific Railroad, Cheyenne would not exist in it’s current form, if at all. Cheyenne Depot Days celebrates a rich and exciting heritage of railroading and will feature Cheyenne Depot Museum tours, Steam Shop tours and vendors,

The Annual Sherman Hill Model Railroad Show will also be in The Depot with working models that are quite impressive, even though they are minute in scale to the real trains that surround them.

Depot Days will be anchored at the Cheyenne Depot Museum at 121 W. 15th St., while the connected Sherman Hill Model Railroad show will be at the Frontier Park Recreation Hall 4610 Carey Avenue.

Shuttle service via trolley will run every half hour for your convenience. That cost is covered along with all other expenses of this event, with a very reasonable $10 wristband for ages 13 and up. Younger railroad fans get in free.
