With AC/DC about to rock Dodger Stadium, the groundskeeping crew is reportedly preparing to salute the band by placing a protective tarp over the field.

Word of the special protective measure comes courtesy of TMZ, whose sources suggest that the Dodgers — currently leading the National League West and preparing for a playoff run — didn't want to take any chances with the condition of the playing surface following the band's visit to the stadium tonight, so they're covering it up.

As TMZ's report notes, this is a different tactic than the one taken by the Chicago Cubs, who took up the turf at Wrigley Field before AC/DC's Sept. 15 show in the park — and later suggested that the band still "totally messed up the infield," perhaps adversely affecting the outcome of games in the process. (The Cubs have since clinched a playoff berth.)

Lest AC/DC fans take the Dodger Stadium tarp as some sort of slight — or a testament to the band's special powers of rock 'n' roll turf pollution — TMZ's report also goes on to point out that this isn't the first time the venue's crew has used this particular precaution for a concert at the park; they did it just last year, when Paul McCartney came to town.

The band's Los Angeles stop closes out the North American leg of its latest world tour, which is scheduled to start a fresh leg in Australia and New Zealand in November.
