A domestic disturbance near Miller Elementary School prompted officials to lockdown the school this (Monday) morning.

Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta says police were called to a home on 2nd Avenue around 11:30 a.m., but were able to peacefully resolve the situation.

"The school was locked down for about half an hour," said Malatesta.

"We had the situation contained at that residence," he added. "(We) just basically wanted to be sure that nothing could happen at the school."

Despite some rumors, Malatesta says "there were no shots fired" during the incident.

"Nobody was in any danger," said Malatesta. "The person was transported to the hospital for mental health treatment. I don't believe an arrest has been made at this point in time."
