Valentines Day is right around the corner and, if you're a guy, you're probably wise to start thinking about what you're going to do sooner rather than later.

Flowers have been synonymous with Valentines Day for decades. But why do men tend to give their loves flower on Valentines Day?

We might find the answer in the 18th Century when King Charles II of Sweden returned from a trip and brought flowers. He popularized the art of 'flower language' and it spread like wild fire throughout the continent.

What is flower language? For instance, red roses speak of love for someone and so on.

Here's an idea to spice up your red roses, if you must send them to your sweetheart this Valentines Day.

On each stem of the rose, attach a note for a future date. For example, one note could read, "go to dinner" and another note could read "coffee date" or "symphony date."

This will really spice up the rose giving and will show her that you put more effort into it, rather than buying a last minute dozen roses.

To add to the zest of the moment, only send 11 roses and save the twelfth rose to give to her yourself at dinner. You could read a love note out load as she reads it.

So, if your going to send her a dozen roses, add a little more than just handing her a bundle of red flowers. She'll feel special and you get a good deposit into the love bank.
