Creighton University Economist Ernie Goss says his March survey of supply managers in Wyoming is forecasting continuing growth for the state economy.

Goss says his survey shows healthy growth among firms dealing in non-durable goods such as chemicals and food products was more than enough to offset slowdowns among durable goods companies and energy-related firms. Wyoming's overall economy scored a 58.3 in March. While that was a slight decline from the state's February score of 59.4 it was still well above the growth-neutral mark of 50 on Goss's index.

Especially good news for the state economy was found in the area of new orders, which scored an impressive 73.9 on Goss's March survey. The inventory and employment areas also were strong, scoring 60.1 and 60.3 respectively. Goss says his latest survey combined with others he has conducted in recent months are forecasting continued economic growth in the state for at least the next 3-6 months.
