Elton John’s NY Concert Full Of Surprises

Sir Elton John had quite a week in the Big Apple, on Monday he inducted Leon Russell into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Wednesday he played Madison Square Garden for a record setting 61st time.

John was part of the all-star jam after the Rock Hall inductions including a medley of Neil Diamond songs. His show two days later also contained some stars.

After a nearly 10-minute version of "Rocket Man" John's roadies wheeled a second piano onstage and Leon Russell made his first appearance on the Madison Square Garden stage since George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh in 1971. The duo played eight songs from their new album The Union according to Rolling Stone.

Before their new song "Gone To Shiloh," roadies brought out an extra microphone and Gregg Allman came out to sing the verse Neil Young sings on the album.

Who knows what surprises Elton will have up his sleeve for his Matthew Shepard Foundation show April 12th at the Wells Fargo Theatre in Denver.
