Nevada is in a state of emergency. In the week since becoming the 5th state legalizing recreational marijuana, dispensaries are running out of weed.  Las Vegas is hardest hit and is experiencing what Colorado went through in 2013, long  unending lines around dispensaries that have sold more than $3 million worth of buds so far.

State Senator Segerblom expects to generate about $60 million in revenues over the next 2 years but Las Vegas underestimated the city’s need for weed.

Governor Sandoval agrees with the statement of emergency and wants to fast track distributor approval. According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, the Nevada Tax Commission will vote on Thursday for a bigger pool of distributors, saying they need more marijuana fast, or an entire industry could grind to a sudden stop.

Many blame the shortage on red tape on distribution.
