Do you love barbequed ribs? Don't miss this weekend's Ribfest in downtown Cheyenne.

The 5th Annual Cheyenne Kiwanis Ribfest runs Friday through Sunday, August 19-21, at the Depot Plaza. Professional world champion barbecue teams compete for cash prizes and trophies and offer their award-winning food to the public.

Ribfest 2011 kicks off Friday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Saturday's hours also run from eleven to eleven, with a special luncheon with UW Men's Basketball coach Larry Shyatt and his assistants available for an extra fee.

Sunday's the last day for barbeque and features the annual car show and the awards ceremony, hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Accompanying all the barbeque and side dishes will be music all three days. The scheduled bands for Ribfest 2011 include:

-Cab Night Rendezvous beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.

-Boogie Machine on Friday at 9 p.m.

-Hazmat playing Saturday at 3 p.m.

-Amplified Souls scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

-Phat Daddy Saturday night at 9.

-Dave, Crystal & the Boys play Sunday starting at Noon.

This year's champion cooking teams include:

-Desperado's BBQ, winners of the Cheyenne Ribfest in 2007 and 2008.

-Aussum Aussies BBQ, Cheyenne Ribfest winners in 2009 and 2010.

-Johnson's BBQ, voted "Best BBQ Sauce in Reno." You'll need to sign a waiver before trying their "Thermal Nuclear BBQ Sauce."

-Big-Show Barbecue Company from Kansas City, Missouri. "The new pig on the block.

The purchase of a three dollar armband is required to buy food from the vendors.
