Laramie County County Commissioner Keith "Buck' Holmes says an ''eternal flame" which used to burn on the east side of the County Building will soon shine again in celebration of freedom and the sacrifices made by veterans.

Holmes says the flame was a landmark in the early 1960's. But he says with the construction of a new portion of the county building later on, the gas line to the flame was taken out and it's light was extinguished.

Holmes says recently a group of local residents got behind the idea of re-lighting the flame. County maintenance lined up contractors to do the necessary work and Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power donated the gas line to the refurbished flame fixture.

Holmes says a ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11--Veteran's Day-- to re-light the flame, in observance of the sacrifices made by American men and women who have served in the armed forces.
