Some dedicated anglers will venture out to see if they can bring in some of the brown and brook trout that are spawning. Even though Friday temperatures will get just above freezing, you’ll want to stay out of the high country where it’s windy and starting to ice over.

You’ll do best at Granite, Crystal and North Crow reservoirs with worms, crawlers and salmon eggs. You may also want to try some Panther Martins.

Hothead leaches and Tan or Olive Scuds may bring you luck on The North Platte – Grey Reef. The wind and cold will be around for a while but when the weather breaks, the activity should improve. That also goes for Laramie Plains Lakes, where you can get some Kokanee on calm days.

A side note from Wyoming Game and Fish: As the weather changes, many big game animals leave their summer and fall ranges to head for traditional wintering areas. Some animals move significant distances while others only move a few miles…but regardless of the distance, migration does occur every year and the migration routes often lead animals into conflict with motorists as they cross numerous highways on the way to their wintering areas. Slow down and expect wildlife on roadways, especially at dawn and dusk.
