A spokeswoman for Laramie County School District#1 says a fire alarm that went off Friday afternoon at Arp Elementary School in Cheyenne was caused by an electrical problem.

Mary Quast says the faulty electrical ballast did create a fair amount of smoke, but says it was contained in one room. The false alarm did cause the school to be evacuated, and firefighters were sent to the school.

Quast says repairs are being conducted and officials expect the problem to be fixed by Monday morning.
