Some FedEx Employees volunteered to help get presents delivered to their destinations after weather delays and a massive number of last minute online orders contributed to a failure to meet their 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve delivery deadline.

The company wasn’t the only one affected, but seemed to take most of the heat. Social media backlash called them the Grinch of Christmas and blamed them for ruining the holiday. Twitter users put them on blast big time.

I think that the main focus should be on those who stepped up to help keep the company promise and more importantly, keep the magic and spirit of Christmas alive.

Thanks to these volunteers, FedEx was delivering packages and opened some FedEx Express offices so people could pick up their packages on Christmas Day.  It is estimated that some 10s of thousands of deliveries were affected, but the company did not release any numbers.

Here's to those who stepped up.
