Fewer Biker Wrecks in Wyoming During Sturgis

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming law enforcement investigated fewer crashes and made fewer traffic stops in the northern part of the state during this year's Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Motorcyclists and others from all over the world attended the rally, which was held Aug. 5-11 in South Dakota. During the rally, traffic increases in South Dakota and Wyoming, especially in surrounding counties, such as Crook, Niobrara, Weston, Campbell, Johnson and Sheridan.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Stephen Townsend says there were 13 motorcycle crashes and one fatal this year in northern Wyoming. Last year, there were 16 crashes and no fatalities. In 2010, there were 29 crashes and four fatalities.
