Former Wyoming House District 12 Representative Lee Filer says his experience and knowledge of the issues give him the edge over Lars Lone in the November general election.

Filer held the seat for two years before losing the seat to Harlan Edmonds in 2014. But Edmonds recently resigned the seat because he moved out of the district. Laramie County Commissioners on Monday appointed Lone to fill out the remainder of Edmonds' term.

Some Democrats are unhappy with the appointment, because it it allows Lone, who won the GOP primary for the district earlier this month, to run as an incumbent.

Filer said after the commission vote on Monday that he thinks Edmonds timed his resignation to allow Lone to be appointed and run as the incumbent in the district.

Filer said Wednesday he thinks the county commission was put in a difficult situation in deciding whether to appoint Lone or Clarence Styvar to fill out the rest of Edmonds' term, adding he doesn't have any "bad feelings" towards the commission.

Lone defeated Styvar in the Aug.16 primary election.

Filer, who watched as the commission interviewed both Lone and Styvar, says there were times he had to fight the urge to speak up and explain some things to both men. Filer says he has a "way better edge" on the issues than Lone, who has no previous legislative experience.

Lone was sworn in Tuesday by Wyoming Supreme Court Justice James Burke.

The legislature isn't scheduled to convene during the remaining four months of Lone's current term, but he does sit on a couple of legislative committees that will hold hearings over that time
