The Cheyenne City Council Finance Committee is slated to consider a contract with local firefighters on Monday.

Negotiators for the city recently agreed with representatives of the International Association of Firefighters Local 279 on a contract that would take effect on July 1, 2015.

The deal would be a two year period, including Fiscal year 2016 (which begins on July 1, 2015) and 2017.

The compromise includes a lower base salary increase than firefighters had originally wanted, with the city in turn agreeing to keep most specialty pay for firefighters who serve as EMTs and other specialty roles in place.

The deal must be approved by the full city council before taking effect regardless of what happens in Finance Committee.
