Finance Committee To Consider Hotel Parking, Elevated Walkway

The Cheyenne City Council Finance Committee is scheduled to consider parking spaces in the Jack R. Spiker Parking Facility and use of an elevated walkway for a planned hotel at their Monday meeting.

Both the parking spaces and the walkway are part of a plan to address parking for guests at a planned Hilton Hotel in downtown Cheyenne. The walkway would allow guests to walk directly to the parking facility, where some parking spaces would be set aside for hotel guests.

The committee is also scheduled to consider the maximum prices and other details of an agreement to hire a Construction Manager At Risk (CMAR) for the new city aquatics facility at the municipal pool. The city is using the CMAR approach to the project after all the bids for the work using a traditional bidding process came in well above projections.

Laramie County voters approved using sixth penny sales tax funds to build the new facility in 2012. Additional money to fund the project comes from the sale of city property to the Menards retail chain and other funding sources.
