MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS, WY - Recent precipitation has moderated fire danger throughout Yellowstone National Park. Effective at noon on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, park officials lifted fire restrictions inside the park’s boundaries.

Fire danger can change rapidly with changing weather conditions. Currently the fire danger is high. Visitors are reminded to always use caution with fire in the outdoors.

With restrictions lifted, visitors must still follow the park’s year-round regulations concerning fire. The following activities are never permitted in Yellowstone National Park:

  • Discharge of fireworks or firearms
  • Use of explosives or pyrotechnic devices
  • Abandoning or failing to attend a campfire
  • Driving a vehicle off-road
