Everyone knows and loves Flat Stanley, the project for elementary school students who send him on trips around the world and document his travels. We took Stanley from our grandson Patrick in  North San Diego County and gave him a tour of the Front Range from Colorado to Wyoming.

Here's a little background on the traveling Flat Stanley project. Stanley Lambchop and his younger brother Arthur are given a big bulletin board by their father to display pictures and posters. He hangs it on the wall over Stanley's bed. During the night the board falls from the wall, flattening Stanley in his sleep. He survives and makes the best of his altered state, and soon he is entering locked rooms by sliding under the door, and playing with his younger brother by being used as a kite. One special advantage is that Flat Stanley can now visit his friends by being mailed in an envelope. Stanley even helps catch some art museum thieves by posing as a painting on the wall. Eventually, Stanley is tired of being flat and Arthur changes him back to his proper shape with a bicycle pump.

Our Stanley in Cheyenne visited The State Capitol, an empty Highway Patrol car, The Cheyenne Depot, Coca-Cola, Townsquare Media and the welcome to Wyoming sign on I-25 south of Cheyenne. In Colorado Stanley visited Boulder, Nederland, Central City and Denver with a stop downtown and at Sports Authority Field. We had as much fun with Stanley as the kids did with the project. It also keeps us as grandparents involved with the grand kids

education.
