Passengers on a Southwest flight leaving Salt Lake City had a few tense moments Monday as their planes engine appeared to catch fire just after takeoff.

The flight bound for Los Angeles spent a total time of thirty minutes in the air. Several passengers located along the wing noted that there appeared to be flames "shooting out of the engine" to the flight staff. Witnesses on the ground also spotted the anomaly, and notified authorities.

Southwest pilots called the incident a "performance issue with the right-side engine."

The plane safely returned to Salt Lake International Airport and the airline brought a new plane for the over one-hindered travelers.
