Forty residents of the small Sweetwater County community of Granger were evacuated on Saturday due to flooding of rivers in the area, according to a spokesman for the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department.

Dick Blust says people living in the Trails West Trailer Court were evacuated Saturday afternoon and night. The trailer court is located about 1000 yards downstream and east of the confluence of the Hams Fork and Blacks Fork Rivers.

Blust says no one was injured in the evacuation and several of the evacuees are being housed at the Granger Community Center. Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell is asking people to avoid the area because water levels can change quickly and trap people in the area.

Granger is located in western Sweetwater County. It had a population of 138 people in 2015 according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
