Cheyenne-Laramie County  Director Gus Lopez is urging people to get their flu shots.

He says virtually everyone, with a few exceptions,  should get the shots, adding you can discuss with your health care provider whether you should be vaccinated.

Adults can get the shots on a walk in basis at the department weekdays from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Children and families can get shots without an appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

The Health Department is holding a shot clinic for everyone on Tuesday, October 21 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments for getting the shots can also be at the department's website.

Lopez says the shots cost $28, and in many cases your health insurance provider can be billed.

Besides getting the shots, Lopez says other precautions against getting or spreading the flu include washing your hands often and staying home from work if you are sick.
