Former UFO bassist Pete Way has been hospitalized after collapsing and suffering a heart attack while in Germany.

The musician has dealt with a number of health issues in recent years, previously battling prostate cancer in 2013 and receiving the all-clear from doctors in 2014. The diagnosis was made when doctors had checked his liver, which had previously been damaged due to hepatitis.

Way's wife Jenny revealed the bassist's most recent health issue in a statement, explaining, "My husband Pete Way has collapsed after a short business trip to Germany and is currently in hospital. He has had a heart attack and a blood clot has been found on his lung. Needless to say, I am in bits, but Pete is fighting like he always does. We are NOT going to lose another one. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers."

Way has been working on a new solo album. Walking on the Edge is tentatively slated for a late 2016 release. The bassist co-founded UFO in 1969 and has served two stints with the band. In addition, he's also played with Waysted.
