A former Casper, Wyoming sportscaster had been at ESPN television for three years, but unfortunately was let go as a part of the network's mass layoffs this week.

Brendan Fitzgerald worked at ESPNU, primarily covering college sports, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Before starting with the "Worldwide Leader In Sports," he worked at KCWY Channel 13 in Casper. He also had brief stops covering sports in Texas, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Boston where he covered the 2013 Red Sox world championship.

Just over 100 ESPN employees were cut this week with the network citing "budget concerns" as the main contributor.

Celebrities Ed Werder, Trent Dilfer, Danny Kanell, Len Elmore, and Jade McCarthy were also notably let go.

Despite the bad news, Fitzgerald maintained a good sense of humor about the situation on his Twitter account.
