Are you an avid comic book fan?

Score some new reading material this weekend as Cheyenne celebrates Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 3.

It's always on the first Saturday in May like the Kentucky Derby so it's easy to remember the day each year when you can pick up comic books for free.

In Cheyenne, retailers participating in Free Comic Book Day include Gryphon Games and Comics, LLC, 1710 Central Ave., and The Loft Collectibles above The Knights of Pythias at 312 W. 17th Street.

In addition to the free comics at The Loft Collectibles, they'll have a lot of other giveaways, a costume contest for gift certificates, a bake sale for Relay for Life, in store sales, pizza, candy and a chance to meet costumed Super Heroes and Villains and get your picture taken. Costumes are courtesy of Eclectic Zion Studios in downtown Cheyenne on 17th St.

The Loft Collectibles is also a sponsor of the Free Comic Book Day event going on at the Laramie County Library on Saturday. Stop by for free comics while they last and if you show up in costume you'll receive a free movie or video game rental on May 3rd only.

Free Comic Book Day, a great way to get you ready to go see the new Amazing Spiderman 2 movie opening at theaters this weekend.
